Urchin-style baits are everywhere right now. And they catch 'em like crazy.
So we built a rod for them in our Sanford shop. The Urchin X is a 7'2" Medium Heavy with a fast action, and our team fished it for a good while before we let it out the door.
That length and action fit the way guys are fishing urchins. Fish it tip up and work it like a jig. Or drop the rod tip low and work it like a jerkbait. Either way, the fast tip gives the bait the snap it needs to draw reaction strikes.
The blank is our brand new CR8B, rolled right here in North Carolina. It's light and super sensitive, so you'll feel the bites that matter.
The grip is our cork and carbon fiber combo. Cork where you want comfort, carbon where you want every tick coming straight to your hands.
The reel seat is an ECS-style design with direct blank contact, so what the blank feels, your hand feels.
Guides are K-Frame with silicon carbide inserts, finished in custom blue. Blue wraps run the whole rod to match.
Then there's the hook keeper, which might be our favorite detail. We moved it down low on the rod, so your urchin stays out of the way. Lay it on the deck or slide it in the rod locker, and it won't hang up on your other rods or get torn up.
We built 100 of them. When they're gone, they're gone.
